: So... I was hit today...

Sorry for the bad quality pics, I'll get better when I go to the towing yard where they took my baby... :( Just as I decided to keep it too!
CAI, Short shifter, Focus Racing header. All shot. And for the record I hate HICKS. This redneck slammed into me doing about 40. Didn't even hit his breaks. His Dakota was towed off with a busted Radiator... That's it.
The Durango that he plowed me into, his exhaust tip was shoved THROUGH my front bumper, and upon him driving off,... It pulled my bumper right off. And yeah, if you're not certain from the photos, my baby was totaled.

Oh man....Glad you are ok but jeez that sucks. Also, that'd a pretty serious issue that the airbag didn't go off in what appears to be a pretty serious accident. Is there anyway you could report that?

The air bag wont go off from a rear end collision. Yes your front got hit too, but needs to be of a decent impact in order to make it go off. That way it doesn't go off from fender benders. Sorry to see your foci get squished though :/

Damn, I'm really sorry. Glad you're alright though. The front looks pretty badly bent up. But I guess without actually being there we really can't tell whether the airbags should've gone off. Visually it looks like it should have.

In any case it wouldn't be the first time the airbags failed to deploy. It's more common than you think. I don't know whether it's faulty sensors or whether the sensors themselves have "blind spots" on the bumper, but it happens.

So, I should or shouldn't report it to Ford?
And yeah, with the exception of my neck being stiff and sore, I'm doing fine.
How hard did it hit in front you ask? It knocked the cigarette/ash tray holder out and all the way into the back seat. I'd say that's pretty damn hard.

Wow...that's terrible. I wonder if you could get any money or anything from Ford for not having the airbag go off.

I just got off the phone with them, and I asked for a settlement of 2500$. That's more than I payed for it in the first place so even if I get half of that. In total the insurance plus that will be enough to get me what I want. A Supra. :)

No, the car was insured for 5, then the medical thing I'm getting 5 for. And then the 1000-2500 from ford.

I think that styling is a little over the top for me (Hey, just my opinion... and I'd get tired of saying "Yes officer"), but that car is in mint shape....
Hope everything works out for you!

(This is in reference to the Saleen, a bunch of posts snuck in on me!)

The air bag sensors for the focus are on the frame rails. So unless there was damage on the frame rails, the air bags shouldn't have deployed.

I'd weep indefinitely if my Focus got hit like that. This car grew on me so much these past 5 months.

Hell, boy, you ought to git yerself a DODGE! Yep, them fords is fairy cars! Hadda' youda' been in a DODGE, youda' been just fine! Maybe youda' need yersef a new radiamiator but youda gotten one off them other trux.

I'm surprised Ford didn't accuse your STS of disabling the supplimental restraint systems.

Nevertheless, it's good to see that the last thing your little car did was protect you from some rather nasty looking bodily harm.

Good luck with your next car.

Thanks all. And for the Saleen,... Man. I just couldn't do it. It looks nice and all, but I prefer to do my own work. It's much more gratifying in the end. Wouldn't you agree?

Ford isn't going to do anything, but you might want to file a report with NHTSA at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/. They will investigate if they feel there is evidence of a problem.

I had a Taurus that was totaled a few years back where the airbags also didn't deploy. I filed a report via this system.

So, I should or shouldn't report it to Ford?
