Do you mean the windshield or the front door windows? It also depends on your state. Check this (http://www.tintdude.com/laws.htm) site out for info reguarding your state's window tint laws.

please use punctuation in you post, it makes it so much easier to read dude.

It changes from state to state.

I don't think any states allow windshield tints, most shops won't even tint it. The lowest any state allows is 30% on the front two, and like a 12 inch banner or something.

btw, 30% means 30% of outside light gets in. So, the lower the tint percent, the darker the tint. 5% is limo tint.

Here in Texas there's pretty much nothing allowed below the rear view mirror.

Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices

* Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
* Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
o If sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 area of the windshield, the light transmittance value must be 25% or more;
o The luminous reflectance of any additional sunscreening devices used must be 25% or less;
o Sunscreening device cannot be red, blue or amber in color.

Side Windows
All side windows must have at least 25% light transmittance and luminous reflectance of 25% or less, over the entire surface area of the window.

*Rear (back) Window

* If vehicle has left and right outside mirrors, there is no minimum light transmission requirement.
* If not equipped with both outside mirrors, the rear window must have no less than 25% light transmittance and a luminous reflectance of 25% or less.
* The manufacturers installed glazing shade band is excluded.

I know the winshield is completly off limits. You cant get anything at all on it. If a cop sees it you'll get a fat ticket. Im getting my windows 5% all around. Not the winsheild though. Its risky but o well. I had 5% all around on my mustang and never had any trouble. Luck I guess.
