Future SVT rider 12-27-2006, 06:32 PM Look @ the focus for sale section here.A guy sell a V6 Hatch focus with SVT rims for 5000$.
Listen to me and check this out!
However it is in another state i beleive.
Klondike 12-27-2006, 06:32 PM wow thats really chepa for an 02, them hyndais sell very cheap, i dunno ilike how that car looks
also do what you want to do, most of us will say get another car, but if you like it and it drives nice then go for it, and with that spare cash you can mod it quickly
otherwise i say with 950 find another used focus, or maybe a svt, if ya want a svt, and stay on FF lols
bigjordan 12-27-2006, 06:33 PM ahem......protege5..cough cough
no, seriously..........thats not a bad car. the only thing i would be worried about would be the massive depreciation associated with korean cars.
SVT Robzor 12-27-2006, 06:51 PM The Elantra GT would probably be a very good A to B car. I was passingly interested in one before I got the Focus, but decided comfort was less important than performance. They are well-equipped, leather is nice to have, the interior materials used should be nicer than the Focus. A sport car the GT is not, but it should at least be entertaining. Give it a drive and come back with your opinions.
The P5 is supposed to be an excellent driver's car, and while more expensive definitely worth looking into.
My personal opinion is an Impreza 2.5RS, but I've got a thing for them. I see you're located in the northeast, a Subaru might be worth considering. 2.5's had a problem with head gaskets in the first couple years, other than that they're pretty solid.
Logan175 12-27-2006, 06:58 PM should have got a saab.
Klondike 12-27-2006, 07:22 PM go buy up that maxda 323 in the for sale area, not a bad car for 1500
05FoCi 12-27-2006, 10:10 PM well i would love to spend the whole 9300 but my dad says no look for a car around 5-7. i cant argue with him(he'll win), if i could spend it tho i would have bought the 2003 5sp dodge stratus r/t i saw yesterday at clas cars. it was blk 39k mi and 6995 3.0l. all leather all power freaking beautiful (salvage storm damage ran great tho) . but once again pops said no too fast. plus he said no coupe. and no more focus. :( so i am limited. and i am liking this hyundai and am not really worried about resale. i no the power is a little on the low side but it is loaded, but i will look into the p5'S
SkaAddict 12-27-2006, 10:22 PM There's going to be little, if any aftermarket support for that Elantra...
Klondike 12-27-2006, 10:32 PM what no more focus! man that sucks!
good luck on the car hunt search
besthaticouldo 12-27-2006, 10:40 PM dont buy a hyundai. if you thought your focus rattled a lot. my ex/kinda gf has a 04 elantra with 25k and it rattles like its coming apart. you will hate a hyundai.
honestly. for about 5-7 id look into a protege or something. if you wanted, you could buy a saturn. get one thats 1996-1998. they are the newest and they have good power for the weight of the car. and with a couple mods they make a lot of power. if you get newer then a 98 they dont make the good amount of power. if you do get one. PM me and ill set you up with a bunch of site for mods and stuff.
05FoCi 12-28-2006, 03:55 PM ty for input guys, ill look for a saturn. if i do i will pm u. i already set up a road test for it on saturday, i got kinda discoraged when the guy told me it had close to 75000 mi on it but we will see how things will play out, i am taking a closer look at the protoge's. only question tho on the protoges what year is a good year.
Fl3tCh 12-28-2006, 04:10 PM i would not go for a hyundai.. especially one with 75K miles on it!!!
why wont he let you get another focus?!?
05FoCi 12-28-2006, 05:51 PM wow this is crazy i thought hyundai's were nice cars!
Klondike 12-28-2006, 05:59 PM ^resale values tell a lil about the car, and if i can get a 2006 hyundai for like 9k, id be worried
i say get a protege, exceleent cars, and see if you can find one with all wheels steering, for autoX itd be great!
focusonthefocus 12-28-2006, 06:10 PM Infinity G20! Go for it! Trust me. You'll love it.
05FoCi 12-28-2006, 06:36 PM well like i said im pressed for money like 7k max but im really starting to like the car if in all honesty you guys really thinks its a crappy car ill leave it but i mean come on look at the options, im not really to worried about the resale value. jus need something to hold up on diliveries and daily driving
besthaticouldo 12-28-2006, 07:01 PM o say go for the saturn. they run amazing. easy to work on. easy to mod. respond well to mod. look good.
the hyundais are pieces of shit. you will hate that car. they are a terror to work on. they ride like crap.
boca202 12-28-2006, 07:04 PM Wow, Focus to Elantra??? thats what i call to be "demoted", damn!
yahoo1z 12-28-2006, 09:45 PM i had a 2001 blue elantra gt before i got my focus zx3. it is a fun car, lots of standard options, very reliable, and i like the way it looks (hatchback). congrat on ur purchase. here is a few pics of my elantra

well not purchased yet jus going to go look, but the way you guys are talking about it i dont think im going to get it cause i do need a car for about 4 yrs, going to put on close to 5.5k mi in a months time for about a 7months , so i need some thing reliable then college so it will jus be driven as a daily driver but, ill tell you guys for sure on saturday. but in the mean time can you give me a list with some similar vehicles for around the same price but lower miles.
psycho.chicken 12-28-2006, 11:06 PM did you pay for your focus?
it's your money. parents should give opinions, not statements.
honhon 12-28-2006, 11:11 PM i would also go for something else... if you ever plan to modify it.. the engines respond like crap to modifications... i had an accent before and put a CAI on it and didnt notice anything...
if you want reliability, go with a honda... you could get a really nice civic and have cash left over for mods... but if you want to be loyal to ff and the jet.. get another foci brother! lol
turbovation 12-28-2006, 11:11 PM Pretty sweet little car. If they come in a two door I'de buy it...but I am not a huge fan of four doors unless they cost over 20,000.
Dantheman86 12-28-2006, 11:40 PM um, IMO hyundai = junk, korean cars = junk, i had a friend that bought a 02 hyundai, and HATED it. she picked the hyundai cuz it had more options than the other cars she was looking at, by 35,000 miles, the thing sounded like it was gonna fall apart.......
05FoCi 12-28-2006, 11:42 PM did you pay for your focus?
it's your money. parents should give opinions, not statements.
parents own me, yes my money but im not 18 so......

ty for the input but im not looking for real mods, only honda-civic si coupe (Fl3TCH)
ohby the way ty yahooz1 for the input, nice pics, what happen? why do you no longer own it.
05FoCi 12-28-2006, 11:43 PM um, IMO hyundai = junk, korean cars = junk, i had a friend that bought a 02 hyundai, and HATED it. she picked the hyundai cuz it had more options than the other cars she was looking at, by 35,000 miles, the thing sounded like it was gonna fall apart.......
ouch............[mecry]
SkaAddict 12-28-2006, 11:58 PM So are you going to take the $5000-7000 and buy a car, and then your parents are just going to pocket the rest? Or do they want you to get a cheap car and hang on to the rest for whatever reason? If its the latter I'd just get some beater for under $1000 and wait for your 18th birthday and get what you want.
nomoreavril 12-29-2006, 03:23 AM its not going to be faster than your focus..despite the hp ratings... the only diff between regular and gt is like something like fog lights and a better suspension
boca202 12-29-2006, 08:26 AM No... not Honda please!!!! i hate Hondas!
EvilGenius 12-29-2006, 11:32 AM My brother had a '01 yellow Mp5 before it got totaled. Beautiful car, fully loaded, standard. She wasn't the most powerful thing on the road, but it was powerful enough. He put some tein springs on it and gave it a mean stance. Man... we both loved that thing. I'd seriously consider looking into those.

MattZX3 12-29-2006, 11:54 AM if you want something reliable, and around 7k, then look elsewhere than any car made in korea...
before i bought my focus, i was looking at a similar hundai, and i drove it... ack... the trans felt like garbage... and every time i went over any bumps in the road, it seemed like the interior panels felt like they were going to pop off...
if you want reliability, then look into toyota or honda...
a nice celica wouldnt be a bad car?
http://www.vmax.dk/static/images/vmax/wallpapers/1600/Toyota%20Celica.jpg
you could pick up a decent celica for around 7k or so... and its toyota.. all you relaly need to do is general work to it, oil changes.. etc.. and it will last a long time
MattZX3 12-29-2006, 11:55 AM here.. i found this one near me, and its a nice celica, some mods done to it alerady, and its under 7k

or this one
http://beta.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;jsessionid=D5SRJVGKRAMOFLAYIEQU2WA;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_47_%7CB-7000%7CD-_425_%7CN-N%7CR-30%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-60101&aff=national&paId=216377222&recnum=0&leadExists=true
and yea, mileage is a little high, but its a toyota.. my dad had a 4runner for about 14 years, and it had over 300k on it when he sold it, and it ran perfect the day we saw it drive away
smoknzx3 12-29-2006, 12:03 PM As been stated above. Why not another Foci? They are in your price range and sound as if your parents aproved the first one.
05FoCi 12-29-2006, 01:20 PM well my dad says no coupe so no celica, and he really didn't like the focus that much... so i am really pressed. im looking into some protoge's now, but no more focus and no 2 door. man this blows., but like i said if i could have a 2 door it would be that 2003 dodge stratus r/t 39k mi and 5 sp. .......
dappie_99 12-29-2006, 01:29 PM hey man just get whatever car you are gonna be happy with keeping say 3+ years down the road. im a ford guy and will never own anything else but get whatever is gonna be reliable, comfortable, and fun when u want it to be.
you could always get an svt for cheap if you shop smart! [thumb]
incubus625 12-29-2006, 01:29 PM he wont let you get a zx4. my last car was a taurus, not a bad a car actually. but i dont think anyone wants to be driving a grandpa car, lol
Dantheman86 12-29-2006, 01:59 PM ouch............[mecry]
sorry i had to be one of the bearer's of bad news.....go for the civic si, great car, a lil faster than the focus, prolly quite a bit more reliable, i mean....no that's not what i said this is a focus forum, buy another focus! lol.
*cough* civic si *cough*
but if your dad really wants you to get a 4 door.....buy protege or protege5 those things are sweet, i almost wish i woulda bought one of those over my focus
dappie_99 12-29-2006, 02:04 PM um, IMO hyundai = junk, korean cars = junk, i had a friend that bought a 02 hyundai, and HATED it. she picked the hyundai cuz it had more options than the other cars she was looking at, by 35,000 miles, the thing sounded like it was gonna fall apart.......
yeah i had a friend with a newer hyundai and he ended up hating the car and he owed more than the car was worth when he went to sell it....lol
smoknzx3 12-29-2006, 02:12 PM I'm confused, your dad "don't like the Focus" Ummm Not to be rude but maybe you should just let him pick out the car for you. That way you don't have to go through all this BS. Since you can't get what you want anyway.
Dantheman86 12-29-2006, 02:36 PM is this your money or your dad's money? and are you paying for insurance and gas? if you answer yes to both of these questions, your dad should have just about no say in the matter of what car you buy, just my 2 cents.....i had to tell my parents that too at one point
smoknzx3 12-29-2006, 02:41 PM He may be under their insurance. Maybe why they don't want him to get a two door. If so I can some what understand but as mentioned above I would just get a beater until I could get what i realy wanted.
DaZeDFoCuS 12-29-2006, 03:16 PM ^^ lol ^^
why dont you look for a nice upper 90's 4dr accord. they look nice with rims and a drop, and will last forever if treated right. i was also gonna suggest an older camry, but im guessing thats not your style.
also, i assume you searched autotrader.com already?
DrkKnight614 12-29-2006, 03:54 PM yea honestly, no offense to pops....but who's money is this, and who is driving the car....he didnt like the focus that much, why, what are his reasons. Did you like the focus, cause i mean he's not driving the car so thats not really a valid statement to not buy another focus. Its a hell of a lot of money buying the car, and its your money....dont buy something you'll regret. Hyundia has only gotten to a point where you can say its good in the past 2 years....forget 2002, you'll be doing a serious down grade. And same goes for saturn, pretty crappy especially those SL1 and 2's, they've only become worth looking at in recent years and are really headed in a great direction. The celica was a good idea, but if you want something reliable and cheap but still ahead of hyundi and such, get a honda, or a toyota like a corrolla or a older camery....im sure you can get one in your price range. Milage doesnt really matter much even if it seems high at like 70k b/c toyota and honda engines usually last like 200k miles. Im not saying that no other engine does, but the majority from both them do last.
TURBOfocus@1.4bar 12-29-2006, 03:54 PM ty for input guys, ill look for a saturn. if i do i will pm u. i already set up a road test for it on saturday, i got kinda discoraged when the guy told me it had close to 75000 mi on it but we will see how things will play out, i am taking a closer look at the protoge's. only question tho on the protoges what year is a good year.
I have a 1996 saturn sc2 for sell new clutch, brakes, motor mounts rebuilt motor. only asking 3,500.
