yeah i got to sit in one not too long ago. remotivated me to start saving for one.
only i think that i am serious this time.
haha but i would need to save like 10k, seeing as how they are worth just as much now, as they were when originally released.
FocusSport also supports them.
my dream:
-r32 and stg 2 supercharged from FS (ES[eurosport.acc])

honestly i think that if i buckle down and am serious. i can get it by next christmas.. haha

I know a guy with one (R32), and he doesn't like it too much. The last time I talked with him, it had problems w/ over heating (under normal conditions), and he said that every time he went over RR tracks by his work, the car would sputter and almost die. I am sure the dealer can help him out (his car isn't modded so waranty is 100% ok), but that kind of stuff shouldn't happen on a new car that costs that much

Another friend has a VR6, and she swears she will never buy another VW.

I still want one.

Those GTI's are HOT, and I would love to drive an A3 (but they atleast $35k with AWD and DSG)

i dunno. the r32s are really nice, but for the price, id rather have an evo or sti.

its a highline hatch...

still i would rather have an RS foci... maybe drop in a duratec V6 and make my own variation of a r32... but in focus trim. lol

haha, i would rather have an r32. not sure why. they are obviously much more rare than the others. and slower, but still, i just loved them since i saw one like 3 years ago.

how much i am in love with the r32 doesnt take away from the fact that its over priced and underdeveloped...so much more potential than what you get imo [dunno]

but it will be more dependable than both the sti and evo.. they arnt known for there reliability.
the r32 would be a better daily driver IMO. perhaps a little slower, but it is still AWD and would be a blast to drive and definently faster than my focus [;)]
i think that the r32 is more practical and comfortable to drive than bothe sti and evo.

Subarus are VERY reliable across the board. I see old ones in the paper with 200k+ on them all the time. Mitsubishis with 4g63 motors are indestructable. No WAY that R32 is more reliable. VW is not the brand it once was (if it ever was) remember the oil leaking new bugs? They tried to play it off like it was designed that way (to consume oil).

The other thing I was suprised to here from the FOAF with the R32 is that it is slow. He wanted to sell it to buy an STi.

BTW R32's use a non-locking viscous coupled center diff. This means that they are FWD until they lose traction, then power gets sent rearward. This is better than FWD, but it is nothing like the setups on the STi's and Evo's.

I'll give you comfort though (and interior quality) My buddy's STi is not far from riding in a wooden rollercoaster. He has an aftermarket suspension, and his girlfriend said it was nowhere near as harsh before (stock). It will, however, take care of most any R32 rolling around here [smackbum]

i know subaru has great consumer reports. but i have heard that a lot of little things go wrong with the STi that arnt reported.
STi would be my second choice tho.
i havnt heard too much good about EVO either. i dunno, maybe im just talking to people with bad experiences..
r32 are deffinently more rare tho.
i see more evos towed than r32's driving

I saw a silver r32 this morning on the way to school [:D] It was just a coincidence though.

I have seen 6 R32's, and zero evo's being towed (It is probably regional)
I have also seen 3 Carrera GT's (yellow, silver, black) and a ford GT, all within 10 miles of my appartment. No lie. I have only seen 4 Evo's on the road here (I don't know why). I have seen more wrx's and STIs than you can shake a stick at.

No way around it though, there are a lot more Evo's and WRX/STI's on the road than R32's, and seeing that one this morning reminded me of how cool those things are.

I love the R32. Unlike the Evo and STi, it's NA. Far more potential than either car.

So much potential. That's what they used to tell my parents at every parent/teacher conference. [grinking]

All those "Evo's" and "STI's" I went to highschool with out living life, and I am sitting in a college classroom with kids 6 years younger than me (who can't figure out why I am having such a hard time with calculus)

not gonna lie, those r32's are nice and all wheel drive but just too pricey. i've seen a video of a r32 tuned by EIP on a dyno, like 600 horses, that's sick! and sounded so good.

slaphappyjacko

EIP won't even post what their big kits cost, but Streetwerke sells their 620 HP Turbo kit for the low low price of $26,995[:0] .

More potential? FARFIGNUTEN! For the cost of the kit and the car, you can buy an S4.

I heard that with the war and all, the price of turbonium has skyrocketed, but that is ridiculous![werd]

Streetwerke 480 HP kit for the R32 is $8995
Crawford Performance 450 AWHP kit for STi is $3999.95

But, nobody said German was cheap [cheers]

I wouldn't want to be caught dead owning a VW. Too damn hard to repair, and their dealerships make most other manufacturer's dealers look like the most honest mom and pop garage you can find. My girlfriend drives a 2000 Beetle and the dealer wanted $170 to replace the headlight bulbs, and they don't tell you how to do it in the manual. I won't buy a car from a company that doesn't have enough respect for owners to include a how-to for replacing light bulbs. I'd take the RS...I doubt VW got a rally driver like Colin McRae to do test driving on the R32 prototype and give them input on it.

Plus its long been my opinion that 90% of VW owners are complete [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]s...I wouldn't want the stigma of owning one.

bah....I'll never own another VW. I've heard many stories about the old VW factory in Mexico. Stuff like employee's would take off for a month at a time then return to work. Quality control was HORRIBLE. I think the new factory is run much more nicely. Ford's mexico factory is kickass! There's a video on here somewhere of the SVT being made. It's pretty cool! And hi-tech.

The 2000-2004 ZX3, ZX5, and SVT's were made in Mexico the sadan was made in Detroit. Now, they are all made in Detroit. I watched them re tool the assembly line for the 05's The Fusion took the place of the Focus in Mexico. If you VIN # starts with 3F it's made in Mexico.

I dont mind my SVT is asembled in mexico or my 4 other focuses I own/owned. Best cars I ever had in the last 30 years. My 06 mustang is pretty sweet. I would never own another pinche japanese car. BTW dont the japanese own us?

amen... Ford > VW... end of story... Im not big on German cars in general... they are all expensive as crap... Jag, Merc, BMW, VW, etc...

uhm, jag's currently owned by ford (granted, they're shopping it, but nobody's picked it up yet). and they're made in england; coventry, castle bromwich, and halewood, to be more specific. (thanks wikipedia!)

end correction. continue thread.

and i have major want and desire for a r32. but VW's been bashed by consumer reports for craptastic reliabliity: http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/08/pf/autos/cr_auto_reliability/ so i think they're pretty much eyecandy for me...
