Why don't you get a Venom Performance Module...

He needs a tune. Not an altering.

He needs a new game plan.

Get a real exhaust system first then possibly get a decent intake (Volant would be a great choice) then start worrying about a tune.

As much as i would like to sell you a chip it just wouldnt help and im not the type of buisness that will just sell you something to be selling things

There are Co. out there that will sell you a performance chip and tell you all kind of things and show you wonderfull dynos of how good there chip is but when it comes down to you checking the power a chip would only be worth 2 to 4 HP on the Avg.

Most Co. do a little tip in timing so you can feel something but in most cases it ends there

what about in my case tom. I have an aem intake, soon to be 4-1 racing header, and a custom 2 1/4 straight through catback exhaust. no resonator or anything. Would I gain more horsepower from a focus chip because of my mods?

As long as the AEM does not mess up your AF you are getting very close , I would add the cams and cam gears and find a dyno to have a tune done as well as adjust the cam gears

There just inst a big gain to be had with the ZX3 like there is with the SVT
