Then I push the clutch in and it stops. I will never get FI with all of these little expenses. I may as well just get a new clutch/flywheel/lsd. By the time I get it all installed I will be over 2000$.

yeah, that's the noise referred to in the clutch tsb. clutch/flywheel/quaife will cost you about 2k just in parts. install will run you between 4-650ish if you get someone who is decently priced and knows what they're doing

Yeah I figured it would cost a small fortune.

You want FI? You haven't seen the tip of the expense iceberg yet. Just stay NA and you'll always have the money to keep your car up -- instead of having a boosted car that's falling apart around the supercharger/turbo.

What are you talking about? The only "expense" i needed to buy other than the blower and the clutch...was a tune, and that cost me $200. All together, with the blower, boost kit and tuning I have just a hair over $3K. Then add the clutch and flywheel and install and I have about $3600 in a 220whp daily driven car that hasnt had a single problem in 30K miles.

sounds like throw out bearing noise, if you pull back on the shifter w/o engaging a gear the noise will change as well....don't worry about it drive it

Your 100% right the SVT will handle boost great at about 200-250 and even 300whp range. A big part is the tune. Unless you have some freakish oil/fuel pump problem, then maybe. On top of that if you boost the SVT get a J&S then you’re really safe. I know of several boosted focus pushing 245-275whp for more than 40k miles, only thing they had to due was replace their clutch.

If the knocking/rattling occurs in neutral only, goes away when you fully depress the clutch, but will get louder if you just press lightly on the clutch pedal without pushing it down you have a problem.

Read the clutch TSB. The condition is apparently caused by misalignment between the transmission, engine and DMF. The splines on the hub of the clutch driven plate are wearing away and the rattle is caused by the splines moving against those on the gearbox input shaft. If you ignore the noise eventually the splines in the driven plate will wear away completely and you'll loose all drive to the transmission. Fortunately the splines on the gearbox input shaft are case hardened so that it's always the clutch driven plate splines that wear first. The TSB lists part numbers for uprated DMF, clutch driven plate, pressure plate and fasteners. The package was developed by Ford as a fix. If they saw fit to uprate all the components I'm inclined to think misalignment was only part of the problem.

My car is at the dealer right now having the TSB parts fitted. Thankfully the car is still covered under ESP warranty.

I'm new to this board, but I haven't yet come accross any owners of stock cars that have had a repeat failure after having the TSB clutch fitted. The TSB was delevoped late in the model life of the car so these uprated parts were never fitted to cars while in production.

Unfortunately, that's not the case.
There's several members that have had to get the TSB done a second time (and even third),
but most have opted to go aftermarket after giving the Dealer one shot.

I had mine (Clutch TSB) done just shy of 12,000 miles, and it's still going strong at 45,000 miles.
And, that's including some heavy-duty usage on the AutoCross course.

well luckily, i've been pretty fortunate then because i've never had to get my clutch replaced under the clutch TSB. i'm at 42k miles and my clutch feels pretty damn good.

I'm on my 4th clutch. Origional, tsb, cm stg 3 and cm stg 4. I will admit though; I'm hard on my car and keep the pedal to the floor in most situations.

FI does cost money; not in just repairs but upgrading even further. I bought toms stg1 kit w/ 3 vf mounts and FC TB for $3500 and now I'm buying a motor. I coulda gone cheap and had rings and pistons and machine work for ~$1400 but I want to go big and bold so Im spending the cash. A lot of cash.
