I am adding a bunch of stuff very soon to my car. But for the point of this conversation , lets just say its stock. (well it is right now anyway)

If i bought headers should i toss my Catalytic Converter.?? Would i gain alot leaving my Catalytic Converter there?

What kinda of gains can i expect with just adding a header any nothing else ? Like i say im gonna add CAI and other,,,,but is it worth the money to add headers?

Ive allready gutted the orginal exhaust, btw. I have 2.5 straight pipe form cat back. Man is it too loud [8] Im gonna try and add a resonator or something inline to quiten it down. Any ideas here?

But,,how much are the headers gonna help? Worth the bucks>? Any info is apperciated.

The only way SVT owners see gains from headers is when they're needed for FI applications. The SVT header is, apparently, the best on the market for the zetec.

I wouldnt change the header , you wont find anything better

Do the Off Road Pipe from McNews and a 3 Inch Exh if you want to do Exh

Do you have a tune yet? That is the first thing i would add , I have the Predators for 350.00

The SVT already has a header, and it's the best one you can find. Don't replace it.

Replacing the cat pipe with an ORP is going to sound REALLY loud with no muffler or resonator at all. You can go with a high-flow cat pipe from CFM: http://focus.c-f-m.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1125

I would at least put a resonator on the exhaust, and a muffler or additional resonator. Check out www.trubendz.com for 2.5" options.

I have to agree with Tom on the 3" exhaust even for NA applications. I had my 3" on before I went turbo and you could definitly notice a difference with the 3".... and I had the 2.5 Magnaflow on it before then.

Thxs for answers guys, realy appericate it.

SVT Robzor: What is FI applications?

Tom: I am adding NoS in the next few months. Should i wait for tune then?

CaysE: Thanks for all info and links bro. So the high flow cat is better than stock? But i can just replace the stock one with regular pipe,+ plus oxygen sensor cheater alot cheaper than buying a high flow cat. this be ok?

03OrangeSVT: what is "NA applications"

I have a buddy that works at a muffler shop and anytime i want he will put my car on the rack and replace or add pipe or such.

This is why i put a 2.5 straight pipe from cat back. He only charged me for pipe and nice little alumin tip [:D] It was like 40.00 bucks for pipe+tip...but now the dam thing is just too loud so when i remove cat its gonna get louder... but this is why i have 2.5 all way back alot cheaper than buying a aftermarket exhaust. All i have to pay for is pipe and fittings.

FI = Forced Induction, supercharged or turbocharged setups, that which pushes more air and fuel.

NA = Naturally Aspirated, negative relative pressure is all that fills the cylinders and air and fuel.

The rest I leave to those better qualified.

The Off Road Pipe replaces the CAT with a 2.5 pipe and it is a bolt in deal

You can add the tune at any time but to do it now will make your SVT much more fun to drive till you get the Nitrous going

Actually the only thing on the headers is you may want to get it ceramic coated...and you can ditch the cheap soon-to-break-if-it-hasn't-already heat shield

If you need to worry about emissions, the CFM cat pipe is very close in performance to an offroad pipe. Either one will give you a good increase in power.

CFM cat pipe:

What do you suggest is a "good increase in power"? 4 or 5 HP?

And where in the RPM range would this occur (above 5000 I assume?)????

Will I still pass emissions?

I'd have to agree with this guy... he knows what he's talking about... plus... The first thing i got was his tune... WORLD of difference!
