: Owning Something stock
CT02Focus 03-26-2004, 07:46 PM Will any of you ever own a vehicle stock??? I don't think i could own anything stock.. i would end up finding something for it performance and appearance wise.... Nothing i will ever own will be stock.. always modified.. even my mower.. [hihi]
mustfcs 03-26-2004, 07:51 PM You modded your mower, sweet, I gotta try that.....
crazy_urn 03-26-2004, 07:57 PM my focus is stock. (excluding my aftermarket deck) is there something wrong with that?
i just put my limited monitary resources into areas of my life that i deem more important, like paying my bills. and saving for when i get married in october.
beat3rfocus 03-26-2004, 08:00 PM My mower is modded if you consider adding a 12 oz can holder and removing the kill switch...my friends have solid chrome hub caps on their cub cadet!
blackandgold 03-26-2004, 08:01 PM i hear ya urn i put all my money into my house and fixing it up. I love my cars to death but somethings in life are more important like keeping the wife happy also. Most of the guys around here have super nice cars but live in a trailer down by the river

That seems to be the rule, even around me everyone with a hot car(s) still live at home (with one exception that I know of). I can't personally drive something stock. I'd change something, even if it meant something minor.
My beater is stock. Would love to drop a 2.5T engine in it.

Well, do ff.com stickers count as changing something? lol
staticprevails4 03-26-2004, 08:37 PM i'v allways messed with all of my cars. ended taking them apart as somepoint and putting them back to gether. and I'v had around 10 vehicles. It's just fun.
Lil PZEV 03-26-2004, 08:38 PM Well you have an aftermarket deck Urn, that's still changing it up a little bit. Most everything I own has a little something done to it, I like to make things a bit custom so they feel more like your own... [^]
crazy_urn 03-26-2004, 08:40 PM yeah, i guess my aftermarket deck is not stock is it... but i did not buy it for my focus. i bought it for my old pick-up when the radio died and just transfered it over to the focus after i bought it. the 25 bucks for the installation parts was quite a bit cheaper for me then buying the factory cd player, and beter quality to boot.
~04~SVT~ 03-26-2004, 08:46 PM I am only buying stuff to get some better gas mileage outa my SVT, other than that I know I will never have the fastest car on the road, if I had wanted a faster car I woulda kept my 99 cougar V6,,,,,but I really wanted 4doors for when we have kids but still sporty and quick =)
Infra3sv 03-26-2004, 08:46 PM My car is stock. My bimmer was stock also. I'm content with the stock performance right now and I have low cash. I don't understand why everyone feels the need to modify their car when they haven't mastered their car's current performance. I browse the EVO forums and with astonishment. I believe >50% of the owners can't drive the car for biscuits.
i dont think i could ever own anything stock either. My trucks have intake header carb treatmants and mud tires. When i was driving my brothers ZX3 i played whith it some. I took it into the shop in my auto tech class and played whith the fuel curve in the computer. It imporved the 1/4time by .2 seconds. Not much untill you consider i did it in a hafl hour while reclined in the driver seat...[cool]
Sublime 03-26-2004, 09:29 PM My car is pretty stock with the exception of the Stereo that I almost ready to install and the few mods I have done. The only thing I still need to install mod wise is my 65mm TB. I am happy with the car stock. Well, as stock as it is. My biggest downfall is that I feel the need to put a system in every vehicle I own. I hate stock stereo equipment.
CT02Focus 03-26-2004, 10:37 PM I understand about saving for other things in life.. i was just bringing up if anyone would own a stock vehicle... i mean stereo upgrade is changing stock out... even tail lights or headlights .. changing stock parts...
Hey mepr.. u have a pm
sweet i started page 2
bszarek001 03-29-2004, 10:13 AM I have a stock ZTS. It's fine for me. I traded in my Explorer for the lower payments and better gas mileage. Not to mention this is a fun car and a great value. I would love to mod this thing up, but being that I "downgraded" to save money, I think I will wait on upgrading. Besides, it came pretty well beefed up with 16" wheels/pirellis, 6disc, leather, sunroof, etc.. I'm happy with it thus far..

Some people play golf, some play poker with the guys others go fishing....me, I mod my car it's kind of turned into a hobby, my own relaxation/enjoyment. I have a wife who is very happy, two kids and a dog and our " trailer down by the river" is a four bedroom home on 3/4 of an acre with an inground pool.....it is possible to do both.
sexsi_wht_focus 03-29-2004, 01:07 PM I told myself I wouldn't even try to do mods on my new car, but when my bf's friend started telling me all this stuff I could do to my focus, I was in awe! I have a two year old so I thought getting a stock car would be best, (my bf has a modded mitsu.), so I figured he could keep it that way instead of taking it apart. So I bought a car and low and behold here I am on this forum looking for ways to mod my car. [:D]

I said most of the guys live like that not everyone. I never disagreed that it isn't possible and i think it is cool that you can do both focusdat50. But i go to tons of car shows a year and i swear to god most of the young guys there... you have got to see the 8th layer of hell these guys live at just so they can afford to mod their car. To me that is ridiculous but everyone has different meanings to what living both comfortably and happy is.
Kicknzx3 03-29-2004, 05:41 PM never gonna happen, even my beaters get mods. at this point in my life no matter what it is...even if its not car, it needs to be modded :)

Don't sweat it urn, I liked my focus stock. And I don't have alot of money to mod it because I like to have other things too. The wifes Sport Track kills alot of my money. lol But if I didn't have any other toys then I would put more money into the Focus. Right now I think it looks nice and it has some get up and go, so in June I'm going to get a T/B. Maybe soon I'll get the UDP, other then that it's going to be awhile
tjm73 03-29-2004, 05:46 PM no vehicle has ever been left stock for me. I've changed something on everyone I've had.

Damn straight, I'm about to put spinners on my desk[hihi]
itsmemorphious 03-29-2004, 07:09 PM I just got back from dropping my girl off at work and saw the funniest thing. Ready for this, an electric wheel chair (old spanish guy) with spinners, Yes you read this correct Spinner hub caps on his 2 big wheels and it looked like the 2 smaller wheels where from a top fuel car (chrome), wheelie bar on the back that stuck out like 3 feet behind him and to top it all off like 4 super fast strobe lights under the chair. O my god, my girl friend said she always sees this guy around the same time everyday. I'm going to try to get a pic. Just thought you guys & girls would get a kick from this one.
Chick 03-30-2004, 09:56 AM The only car that I've had that was stock was my 89 Ford Escort LX.
We weren't gonna mod the Focus but once I joined this forum...well, you know how the story goes. :)
Deneuedig 03-30-2004, 10:07 AM I drove a 93 Cadillac Deville before this. As much as I loved that car, i hadta do something so I ended up dropping a flowmaster on it. Man, that car sounded badass...
tarball 03-30-2004, 10:44 AM Honestly, during the short review period I did when I got the itch to get a new vehicle (Ranger was getting on in years), I was attracted to the ZX3 (PZEV mind you) for its features/value/performance stock. Being perhaps a bit older than many of the focus fanatics on here, I am not too concerned with modding to the hilt. Its funny, I really am sorta fanatical about my Focus - strange, as I've never been so for any of my previous vehicles.
However, I do ENVY the SVT; HARDCORE! I might try to mod up to the SVT level in terms of handling/trim. I guess what I am saying is: while I think the ZX3 rocks stock, the mod fever present on this site is catchy!

CivicHatch+SVT-F 03-30-2004, 11:17 AM yep, gotta mod too. My g/f and I both feel the same way which is pretty cool. All she wants to do though is get those carbon fiber emblems for the front and rear, lower it and powder-coat her stock rims black (she's already got the tint).
