: Are you kidding me?!?

So I am out last night...all excited because the JRSC+BBK is at my local ups waiting for delivery on monday. And as I walk out...NIGHTS OF COLUMBUS!!! Someone side swiped my car in the parking lot! Oh it burns....and to top it off, i drove angry and lost control when someone pulled out in front of me and curbed my front tire and corner of front bumper.
The damage is not too bad. My door handle and a section of the rear fender by the wheel well have been scraped down to primer. But besides that, the most immediate thing i need to do is buy a new SVT 5 spoke and make sure nothing is messed up behind the wheel.
Who sells painted body panels for reasonable prices?
Luck of the Irish My ASS!!!!!

more like WAMMI and the little red headed son of a bitch is laughing.
10-07-2006, 12:03 PM
well rear quarter panels dont just bolt up.. it takes alot of work to replace them and also the only panels you will find painted are front fenders and hood.
10-07-2006, 12:11 PM
Talk about a major drag. Stake through the heart
10-07-2006, 02:25 PM
Well when you get the S/C kit installed you can just drive fast enough no one can see the damage. Sorry just trying to cheer you up.
10-07-2006, 03:24 PM
LOL...I think I might just take out a lone and get it re-painted.

You might want to check with your insurance company to see what they can do. It may be covered (at least the parking lot incident) under your comprehensive or uninsured motorist coverage, if you have it. On a '95 Integra GSR that I once had, somebody backed into it hard in a parking lot and took off. My insurance covered it under uninsured motorist and I only had to pay my comprehensive deductible, which was $50.00.

Woah eeeeeeeeeeeer HALT:
Gunna need a little more than a guy side swiped me. Did he stop? Why isnt his ins handleing it and last.
Driving angry is no ones fault but yours.
That does suck, and no you cannot buy prepainted body panels 98% of the time they wont match due to paint fade even if you found panels in your color.
Last I had the better part of my car repainted (hood, fenders, bumper, rear qp, rear bumper, pass driver side door, pass side front door.) For 1600 bux and it was a stunning job.
Make an INS claim isnt that what they are there for?
10-08-2006, 01:24 PM
I could make an insurance claim, however my rates WILL go up. No witnesses and do not have the insurance info on who hit me, cause no one knows who did. My car was parked in the lot and I was inside. Making a self claim automatically raises your rates whether its your fault or not. The only time your rates dont go up is if their is another driver on hand and it was THEIR fault.
I am not sure If I want to make the claim or not. If my rates go up cause i need a 1000 dollars plus worth of work. Then i might just save and pay out of pocket so i dont pay 2 grand worth of a rise in insurance for 3-4 years.
10-08-2006, 09:13 PM
So now do I sell the JRSC+BBK to pay for a new paint job? Or keep it and wait till i find another grand laying around lol?

Your body damage isnt bad at all, in fact its marginal.
It almost looks like you can wet sand the white paint off yours, But some parts will need to be repainted, but there is no needs to replace the whole rear fender its not even deformed.
Talk to the auto repair shop tell them your paying outa pocket they can work something out with you, like pre write a check for them for the next time you get paid ext so its not one big hit.
Also im sure you can scoop up a rim off ebay or here for next to nothing.
10-08-2006, 11:16 PM
Yea... thats what i am hoping....unfortunatley, thats not white paint. I think i was hit by either a truck or suv. Cause they are scratches right down to primer/paint. I dont think it can be wet sanded.
I am getting estimates tomorrow, including going to a friends collision place. Hopefully he can help me out.
I should pitch him a sponsors idea. Doubt that will happen...you know, paint my car and place your decal on the back, hood, or sides.

I'd have to say that you're best bet is to take it to several shops (body repair) and get quotes on how much to repair. Then, call your insurance agent, explain the problem and ask him/her to honestly estimate how much you premiums would increase IF you made a claim. Then do the sums.....if the insurance increase is cheaper....claim! By the way, ask how many years the increase will be for!
That said, if you got angry enough to lose control of your head and the non S/C SVT (Factory!) due to your misfortune, then maybe with the S/C installed it could be a lot worse next time!
Good luck finding the best solution in getting your baby back to her former beauty.

I feel your pain connolly, I had just put in new black side markers, and silverstar head/fog lights, also bought an in-dash dvd flip out player and somebody rear-ended me. Put my car out for about a month and a half, hurt my back, and still haven't installed my dvd player because of that.
10-09-2006, 02:37 PM
Well I am going through insurance and they said that my premiums WILL NOT RAISE even though there was not another party indentified. Not drivers error means not my fault and not paying for increased rates.
With that said. Who is gonna help me install the JRSC+BBK that just arrived at my door?
10-09-2006, 02:49 PM
Good stuff man. I'm sure that they'll recommend you to a company that has a contract with them. All you have to do is drop the car off and everything else is handled by them. If you choose to do that, ask the body shop what papers the insurance company sent over... because when I went through said body shop, they had no idea what to fix. My insurance company didn't send them enough information... like my air bag light was on or that I had lamin-x on the fogs that needed to be ordered and placed... all that. So what should have taken 1 week... took 2 and half weeks. Good luck.

I am friends with a AAA Sponsored shop....they saw the car and are going to paint the whole side for me. I am hoping to push them to install the S/C and just add the shops logo to my car as a sponsorship. New paint and free install. NICE

Be careful though...cause my sister one time had gotten her car flooded. Insurance covered it and they didn't raise her rates per say, what they did though was remove her off one of the "accident free" price reductions she was under. Now, technically they didn't raise her rates for that happenning, but the rates did raise cause she was no longer under that reduction that everyone else in my family was. I mean it wasn't "much" but any reduction on insurance is helpful...we all know that rates are high as it is in NJ

^^ yeah, jersey rates blow.
