Does anyone hear have a Mk1 with no front grill? Like just a whole where the main grill is supposed to be. I wanna see how it looks rather than going through the hassle of removing it if someone has already beat me to it.
To remove your grill, it isn't difficult. Three screws w/ press-in caps in the top cover above the grill (unsure of the name of this plastic cover) and then two bolts (8mm I believe off the top of my head?) and then you just pull it off. Not hard.
So I opened it up this afternoon. It's not the way i thought it would look. There's a giant bump that sticks out behind the emblem that just kills the look. I do am glad to say that it is very secure and cannot be easily opened so if you ever have to deal without one, you're safe.
All of the US versions I've seen 2009 and older work the same. I can get into any of them in under 3 seconds.
If you know where to look the arm that the cable attaches to is exposed. Long thin tool and you can get in very easily.
