I think they recommend replacing it every 90 to 100,000 miles. The water pump is driven by the timing belt so, I'd replace it when I had the timing belt done. It's not to expensive of a job for those who can't do it themselves, I think it's only around 2.6 hrs. labor. Per All Data.
i agree that it should be replaced after 100k miles just for insurance sake........but im pretty sure the serpentine belt drives the water pump....not the timing belt....
