So I am aiming to remove my secondary cat like most exhaust systems do. I have a 2.5" magnaflow from the second cat back. So heres the problem, once the cat is off I need to connect the stock less than 2" pipe to my aftermarket 2.5" pipe without welding. My first thought why not use a 2-1/4" pipe and slide it over stock then clamp and seal. Then slide it into aftermarket with a pie type cut on the 2.5" to help it clamp down. Anyone have any ideas!? Thanks.
Cant have an exhaust shop do it either ive tried, they dont touch cats
I take it this is after the flex? If so measure from the flex mount= where it bolts up, to where your magna flow is at right now. Measure a couple of times, then cut right at the magna flow is now. Unbolt the flex & cut your converter out & take the pieces to a shop w/ your measured length welded in.
If you want to be able to clamp things together, most parts stores have a selection of "reducers" that are short pieces of pipe with a different size at each end.
Something like 2 1/8 over the 2"", and 2 3/8 inside the 2.5" might work. you need to measure ID's and OD's then see what they have that'll work, then buy the clamps to fit that.
Done it before, with the multitude of adapters avail. you should find a fit that works.
I cannot just simply connect the two with a reducer. Its about a 12" gap. What wrong with using no reducers just a 2-1/4" pipe. Slide it over stock siZE exhaust and slide into aftermarket. Exhaust flow would be better that way too. Clamp both ends and use exhaust paste and tape to fill any gaps.
Most of this can be picked up at any autoparts store. Or, give the measurements and specs to an exhaust shop....have them fab it...take it home, and bolt it on yourself. I would do the latter...then, at least it would all be welded up...and the exhaust shop doesnt even ever have to touch the car.
Well I just used a u shaped exhaust clamp on some pieces I have tried connecting 2.5" flexible exhaust pipe to a 2-1/4" pipe but it didnt tighten it down enough for it to be even remotly tight
i drive an oj have the fswerks kit it bolted to the flex and deleted the second cat what kind of cat back kit keeps the second cat ?
