I took my 2012 Focus SEL (just under 13Kmiles) in today because it was doing the same thing. Shudder during low gears (2nd & 3rd I think) and a grinding noise.
The dealer diagnosed it as a leaking seal, saying that fluid was getting on the clutch(es). The dealer has ordered the necessary parts and will notify me when they're ready to repair the DCT.
From what I've seen on the forums a lot of the 2012's had issues. so far there have not been any mechanical issues reported with the 2013.
