Just did another road trip with the new 2012 SEL hatchback with the 6-speed dual clutch transmission with the whole family. This time, I had the K&N drop in filter to compare from stock on the virtually the same route of 222 miles. My previous best highway mileage was 38.0 mpg. With the K&N, I was able to get to 40.0 mpg and but at times I did see the avg. fuel meter go as high as 42.2 mpg. Again, I had the cruise control set at 65 mph for most of the trip. So I feel confident to say that using the K&N will give a realistic 2 mpg increase in fuel economy over the stock air filter and maybe as high as 4 mpg increase with very conservative driving as I experienced.
