Granted you could run how you want but with the warning recommendation on the under side of the hood to use both the latch and the pins. If you don't and something happens and it breaks. It'll be on you and not the supplier.

I didn't mean why use hood pins... I meant why use lockable ones? If the latch is locking the hood, why not just get normal hood pins?
