Problem with flushing the brake system 03 Focus ZX5
I tried to flush the brake system of my 03 Focus ZX5. It has 80k miles and the mechanics warned me to change the brake fluid several times already.
I did the 'press pedal - open bleed screw - close bleed screw - release pedal' approach with a friend helping me and ran almost 1 qt new fluid through to get clear fluid come out of all four wheels.
Then the problem came -- I almost lost the brake force. I figured it must be some air went into the system during the process so I did the bleeding one more time. I didn't see much bubble (if any) come out during the bleeding. The brake pedal is quite firm with engine off but becomes very soft as soon as I turned the engine. Now I have some brake force but it is still softer than before.
Shall I bleed the system one more time? Does driving some miles help move air down the pipe? Is it possible I broke something else?
BTW: with the two-men approach, I don't have to leave some fluid in the waste fluid bottle, put the other end of bleed tube under the fluid and hold the bottle higher than bleed nipple, do I?
