So my Focus doesn't have Nav, unless I use the sync or whatever. Is there a way to add the nav after the fact? I was planning on using my Garmin, but there isn't a good place to mount, and power, the thing in this car.

how big is your Garmin? i use the Garmin Nuvi and it fits in front of the radio display, (also do not have MFT/Nav in mine) Sure i block the radio but i just put it on the Sat radio and keep it on country for road trips so i dont really worry about changing channels :)

Oh to put it in that space you do need to take off the mounting bracket. It should just slide it. slight angle so you dont hit the power button.

No. Many have tried, but there is not one single instance of a non-nav enabled MFT being enabled to have OEM GPS nav functions. There have been a few swap in the entire MFT system from a nav enabled vehicle(mrlandy for one), but still no way to reflash a non factory enabled nav car to have MFT nav.

You saw the Proclip thread, there are options to mount the Garmin nuvi GPS.

Yeah, if you look around this site, you will see nothing but pain from people who tried to add just nav to their MFT setup.

Your two options are to either get a nice mount for your Garmin or replace everything. I replaced pretty much everything in my setup.

That said, my suggestion would be to just mount your Garmin and enjoy it. Replacing everything for me was a significant amount of wiring and setup. I personally think it was worth it, but unless you want to spend a few days wiring everything and setting things up like I did, just mount your Garmin and enjoy driving :)

I simply mount my Garmin Nuvi 550 in the lower left corner of the windshield. The cord runs down the crease between the dash and instrument housing. I haven't wired it yet, but I bought a capped 12v accy outlet like the one on the SEL that I will mount on the dash above the light switches left of the steering column and this will power my shortened Garmin power cord.
