IINM, the DSM DCT is a wet clutch type, and I am not entirely sure that the Dart uses it. From what I read, they were bragging about using a torque converter auto.
Y'know, back in the day (before my day) they had drag racers that rigged up powerful spring loaded mechanisms to get an engine into 2nd without input from the driver. This was something that was needed to make the cars go faster. The automatics had been around for a while, but racers didn't know much about them. Eventually, the automatic became the racing transmission of choice.
The same will come to pass with the DCT. For now, it's quirky and screwed up just like the early hydraulic TC autos. In the future, it will reign over MTs in all aspects of racing more than the AT did.
