There have been plenty of people who have built their own. I built my own and have made some decent power with what I've got. I'm making 207whp and 192 tq on only 7.8 psi. Sure it would have been easier to just buy a kit but I was able to save a lot of money by doing it myself. My intercooler, piping, turbo, and flanges were all bought on ebay. Holding pretty good right now. The one thing about building your own kit though is tuning is not included. But all in all, I spent half of what their kits cost and that includes my gauges, Mafia, intake manifold and exhaust (stuff that doesn't come in those kits). But do whats best for you.
