no, the "threaded end" sticks through the hole that the halogen bulb did, its like a perfect fit, then theres a silicone right you put on, nut, then lock nut that twist onto the threads of the projector. it just attaches perfectly to the original housing, and then you can either drill a small hole for the solenoid (high beam control) wires, or just run them through the back as well. and if it's done right, you should barely have to, if at all, aim the lights again, and they will be stuck right in exactly how the halogen bulb was. the morimoto minis from TRS are a perfect fit for the focus, no doubt
