The inner ring WILL come out, but sometimes they break doing it. Also, if anyone has pulled on pipe or tube first, then the teeth lock in to the pipe/tube and will not release easily. Even vibration can make the teeth settle in deeper into pipe. If you treat them gentle they come right out. I used to use fittings like that on printing press gluer/silicone/softener units and 50 at a time. We yanked lines left and right for job changeups.
