It's definitely temperature related, except this time it seems to get quieter as it warms up. Last time it got worse as the ambient temp rose. It's also on the same side again.
Makes me wonder if there's a possibility that the strut tower is deformed, allowing for an uneven loading of the bearing, leading to premature bearing failure. Who knows.
I do know that the new strut bearing had fixed the noise, temporarily. So, the failure is at the strut bearing level, but I'm not sure of the cause. I'll try lubing the bumpstop up with lithium grease again, just to see what happens.
I'm waiting to hear someone on the ST forums complain of clunking in the suspension. So far, I've seen nothing.
