MS3 & MK2 parts that fit the MK3 Focus

Thought I would start this thread and maybe it will become a sticky.

1. 2007-2012 MS3 rear motor mount (OEM or aftermarket. Helps with wheel-hop and provides a more "connected" feel between the chassis and drivetrain. Better shifts as well.). You can order at local Mazda Dealership, the part number is : BBN-39-040 price is right around $40

1.5) Factory Mazda bolt: 9YA0-2A-226A will cost about $9

2. 2007-2012 MS3 springs (2010-2012 recommended). Excellent results, but if you want an even front to rear ride height, you should cut 1/2 to 1 coil from the bottom of the front springs.

3. MK2 headers such as F2 and FSwerks fit with out issue, just get the longer flex pipe when ordering.

4. 2010+ MS3 struts (with modification) and rear shocks. See this thread: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291074

As we add parts, I will add to the list. I know that amoosenamedhank is working on putting MS3 swaybars on the MK3 Focus as well...

The Factory mazdaspeed 3 and 6 mounts are better also but I believe the speed 6's mount to be bigger due to the car being larger..

Im still in the process of finding a mount that i would like to purchase seems im leaning towards the sure mount also im still confused if we get another engine mount that doesent come with a bolt do we need the mazda bold for the mount as well or only the factory mount? seems lieit would be better to go with one that suplies its own bolt??

In my findings i found a summary of aftermarket engine mounts and thought you all would enjoy a chuckle

Pros:

Reduced Wheel Hop
Improved Power Delivery
Increased Overall Feeling of Solidness
Increased Shifter Accuracy

Cons:

Increased Cabin Vibration
Increased Cabin Noise From Road, Engine, and Transmission
Annoyed Passengers Who Don’t Share Your Enthusiasm

Of course, if you’re like me, you’ll read the cons as:

Free Back Massage
Listening To Your Car Be Awesome
Lame People Who Don’t Deserve To Be In Your Car Anyways

I believe I have the Ford part number for the rear motor mount that is even better than the MS3. I still have to verifiy that it is correct, but it is
CM 526068A.

#45 ·
That's not quite correct. The Focus Electric RMM has an engineering part number like this: CM58-6P082-BA. I'm not 100% certain what the service part number is, although generally its not really different than the engineering part number.

The Focus Electric gets a much more solid electric motor mount than that of the gas powered Foci, despite the ST having even more torque than the FFE.

Its sad that even the ST suffers with the base gas powered focus rmm which is flimsy and allows for a large amount of movement under load even by hand or with only 148 lbf-ft of torque.

#51 ·
Depends if your running stock rmm or ms3 grade and plated or unplated.

#50 ·
Went to the Ford dealer to check out the part number and it appears
CM5Z6068A is the correct one so somebody mistook a 2 for a Z. So I ordered it and got a good discount because my son is a commercial parts pro and does business with this dealer, so my price is $48. The parts guy didn't know there was an all electric Focus, but after looking it up on their computer the
picture shows that it's the proper one. So thanks to Brabs & Suss I am getting the right one.

Just so everyone knows, If you want to use an aftermarket MS3 poly rear mount, get one with a thin flange. I bought a torque solutions mount and it took extensive modification to be able to fit because the "fingers" or the flange on the TS mount were too thick. I had issues of the mount running into a bolt head on the bracket that mounts to the transmission.

I had to grind the bolt heads of both the bolt that goes through the mount and the one that bolts the bracket to the trans, and I also had to remove about .5" from one of the fingers of the flange. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of everything I had to modify to make it fit. but in that picture above you can see how much thicker the afermarket mount is compared to the stocker.

The best poly mount to use would be the JBR one linked before; http://www.jamesbaroneracing.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=42_212_214_217

<snip>

here the CM5Z-6068-A(Focus Electric) mount I installed on my ST, help a little on wheels hop issue, I counldn't tell the vibrations different than the stock so I'll give this [thumb]

Notice how the stock versions are not the same? I replaced my stock RMM today, and expected the 3 hole version. it only has one hole along the bottom. I'm not sure how much of a difference the electric focus mount made. It seems better, but maybe it's just a placebo.
Here's mine for comparison:

So it appears we have at least 2 revisions of stock, or maybe the sport package/trim level alters that?

It would be the MS3 RMM. Are you sure the 2.3 is the correct mount?? I thought it was the 2.0 that was the turbo motor. I know its typically the skyactiv motor but it makes sense if they use the old 2.3 from the first gen for the turbo motor.

They all cross to the same P/N

Contact Park Mazda

That's where I got mine, and I confirmed the P/N on the bag I received as the correct Speed3 RMM, even though the description in my invoice says 2.3l.

These are the correct P/N's
Mount: BBN5-39-040A ($29.61)
Bolt: 9YA0-2A-226A ($5.64)

there are no "O"'s, only 0's(zeros) in the P/N's

Has anyone installed the RMM:
Mount: BBN5-39-040A ($29.61)
Bolt: 9YA0-2A-226A ($5.64)
on their 2013 Focus ST.
I want to order these parts but just wanted to make sure that they are the correct parts. Also, where did you get them? I found a close price on "www.oemmazdaparts.com" but the site says the bolt is incorrect.

Any help from some who actually installed them on a 2013 Focus ST would be great.

I was just bidding on some MS3 springs on ebay only to have the seller cancel the item.
Damn it's obnoxious to find them. There's a set on their now and the person wants $200 for them haha.

The 2010+ MS3 rear sway bar needs added to this list. It is a 26mm solid bar. Use Prothane or Energy Suspension urethane bushings with "B" brackets. You can get either with or without grease fittings. Move the factory MS3 location collars inboard some to clear new bushings. Just tap them with a mallet and a screwdriver or punch. They will move with little force. They will stay in place, but you can put a hose clamp beside them if you are worried.

These bars can be had used for as little as $40. Look at online salvage sites or Mazda forums.

Of course the many available aftermarket MS3 bars will work too. Some are HUGE. [headbang]

Very intersted in hearing how the long term review on this is going. For $40 it's well worth a shot, although i couldnt find any on the ms3 forums for cheaper than $85 + shipping.

#83 ·
I used to have a 2008.5 MS3 GT and several parts under the hood seem really familiar on my 2013 Focus SE. Too bad for me I just found/sold my spare MS3 intake manifold with throttle body a few months ago... The mazdaspeedforums.org classifieds are a great place to get used springs, sways, and exhaust as those guys are VERY performance oriented and upgrade the go fast parts more than anything else x 10. Another good site for their used parts will be mazdas247.com forums, but you have a larger group of regular 3 stuff there too so sift through it.

#84 ·
OK, just got my gen one MS3 parts delivered last night. I got springs, stock MS3 cat-back exhaust (owner cut to remove, but should easily weld), and stock engine mounts. $300 shipped, which may or may not sound like a lot, but these are some HEAVY parts to ship! Also, for reference, the stock MS3 cat-back is barely a restriction on a modded MS3 pushing 300 to the wheels. I only saw 8 HP peak gain dropping it on the dyno, so that stock cat back should be nice and open flowing behind my OBX long tube catless header that should also be here very soon.
