The thing is GetRag also makes dual-clutch transmissions for manufacturers like Ferrari, Audi, VW, BMW, and more. I doubt the issue is the actual dual-clutch transmission, but more-likely the software Ford has created to go with it and the implementation of the DCT with the rest of the drive-train.
VW and their DSG has had similar complaints and issues for what it's worth, we aren't the only people with problems. Not an excuse, just a statement.
That being said, the DSG operates smoother than the Powershift. Whether that's design or software I'm not too sure.
