Obviously there is a risk to deviating too far outside of this range, and we don't know the exact reason or test condition that caused rubbing. It could be that going over a bump on full lock on a rutted road might behave differently than just going along the road normally, but those who have put the O.E. sized 18" wheels and tires have yet to report any issues with the steering or tires themselves even without the limiters in place. Without the limiters on the rack most of the tighter turning radius is preserved vs the factory 18" handling package which with the limiter prevents the wheels from turning as far, and therefore has a wider radius by 3 or more feet over the standard car iirc.
I wish I could get rid of my steering limiters. I'll take a slight rub every now and then vs the stupid turning radius I have now.
