I guess the difference is that HIDs work eerily well with the reflectors. I don't think I've owned a car that had better reflectors for hid use.
Of course, you should add projectors for the best possible patterns.
But here's a funny thing - the LED/HID housings for my Veloster cost 450-600 for A PAIR, depending on what site and style (one is from the Korean cars which get projectors standard, other is from the Turbo model). Yea, you read that price right
That Ford is charging 1800 for a single assembly is absurd.
