No marketing hype when I gain 1 mpg on average with a true synthetic over other cheaper blends and can use it for much longer as well. It's not only the base stock used, but the additive package it's formulated with. Amsoil doesn't cut corners on either aspect in Signature Series.
Better efficiency is the side effect of a lower frictional coefficient.
The question is, why do the large oil companies use group III and III+ base stocks instead of group IV and V? Saving money = more profits. True synthetic base stocks cost more.
