Relocating fuel filter to engine bay - drawbacks?
Would there be any drawbacks in relocating the fuel filter to the engine bay for the SPI/Zetec models? Without spending too much time on other than how, it appears it could easily be done.
Why? - saving time under the car with that ~7/16" screw.
How? Using an old filter, cut off the metal inlet and outlet tubes. Flare the ends just enough to hold rubber fuel injection hose then clamp on enough rubber fuel injection hose to span the gap between existing connections where the filter used to be located under the car.
Mount the filter in its new location just prior to the fuel pressure dampener in the existing rubber fuel injection hose. Determine a method to secure the filter.
Is there a reason as to why the filter is closer to the tank instead of in the engine bay? Fire danger? Surely some cars have mounted a fuel injection filter under the hood.

Replaced #4 Piston, Rings, Rod+Bearings, AERA Re-Manufactured Cylinder Head and a light Hone. Then CLEANED the hell out of everything.
