For Northern Maine winters, my FoFo is as low as it could possibly be without risking damage. I envy folks that can lower their cars an inch and not pay dearly for it in winter. That said, winter up here can be a blast!

To answer your question, here's an interesting thread on ground clearance ... Ground Clearance of 2012 Focus. It would appear that our cars are slightly lower than many of the competitor's compact cars.
When I switched my 17's (OEM Titanium size) for winter 15's (OEM S size), she dropped about 1/4 inch.
