But if I'd type what I really dislike about specif MFG.'s, no one would read it and maybe 9 people would understand what I'm saying. I have a very high mechanical aptitude and understand how things work very well. I'm not the average bench racer. For instance:

I know that GM's compromises aren't the doing of their own. Many of the things I don't like about them stem from contracts with outside MFG.'s such as Delphi and DuPont. GM signs a contract that agrees to buy $XXM worth of product. If the vehicle the initial contract was designed for, lets say a Cobalt, doesn't sell well GM is either stuck with that much product to deal with and not use or ask DuPont to retool and apply the leftover contract to another product. It ends up that the obligation is to the contract and not the car. DuPont knows this and it's in their best interest of overestimate the needs of GM so they will have repeat business and guaranteed income. This is something that puts undue financial strain on GM.
Also odds are if GM would want DuPont to retool, DuPont would want to renegotiate the contract. Things like costs for retooling and down time might be asked for which would be added costs to GM.
Or a worst case scenario, GM has to have parts re molded because of NHTSA implications/concerns and that was not part of the initial contract. DuPont probably wouldn't want to take the hit, financially, on that one. So GM would again have to pay more. Hopefully the run hasn't produced 1,000,000 units when this happens though.

It's nothing like the old days where GM made almost everything in house/company. The automotive MFG process has sprawled and contractual obligations can run a company into the ground. This is why the statistics guys and engineers have to be very well trained and know their markets; and why vehicles aren't marketed to very narrow groups of people. The possible repercussions of making a car for the stay at home mother with 2 children is just too financially risky. So they'll add things dad would like also, that the wife hates ... naturally.

Now for me to type out specific things like that for everything I dislike would take me hours/days and I really don't feel like spending that kind of time on things out of my control that I really don't care about.
