I'm sorry, but it does just look like a primer gas door... there's no reason to make the gas door not match the body of the car. Twenty bucks says you'll be looking at those pictures in five years saying "LOL, what the hell was I thinking?"

There's an important lesson here, and it goes for painting the interior, as well. Just because a part can be easily removed doesn't mean you should paint it.
