This time for real, not launching at 2000RPM and babying the clutch like last week. Best run was actually a race between me and a 97 Thunderbird mark VIII with some mods and on 100 octane, I am on 91. He asked to run me because I was running about the same times he was, should have bet him (see below). Also ran a modded Fox body 5.0 on my 9.79 run where I trapped 80MPH. The last run, I put Richard's 17 inch SVT wheels. He was running 215/45 BFG street tires that should have run better than mine, but it was actually my slowest run. Got a 2.7 60' 9.978@79.60MPH Go figure.

Car is #5160

Those 60ft times are still killing you. I hate to say it but you're going to need slicks.
Well I reached my goals for tonight. Wanted to get a 9.7, wanted a 2.4 60' and wanted to trap 80MPH. I am doing a cup kit and 2.5 inch drop and the dogbone motor mount on Tues. That should eliminate most of the wheel hop. Then I am going to get some 205/50/15 star specs and see what I can do with those. We'll see.

The star specs will help a good bit but they are far from perfect for drag racing. They are very hard walled and meant for hard cornering around a road course, not straight ahead launching. My best run with them I want to say was 8.76 @ 83mph with a 2.2 60ft. The slicks was 8.29 @ 86mph with a 1.91 60ft.

If you are having an issue with wheel hop, then I would suggest investing in polyurethane control arm bushings (works magic) and a lower stress bar. These two things eliminated my wheel hop problems completely. I did the dogbone a long time ago and it did help a bit. The cup kit will help also by putting the car's weight more directly over the wheels. I'm still on stock shocks/struts, that's my problem. My front end picks up worse than a fox body.

just to give you a brief idea my car did a 2.13 60' / 9.651 at 72.7 mph without the bottle... your car like stated above is alot faster then the times its pulling... need slicks or learn to get it out of the hole better. your car is a 8 second car...

Yea, I am on cheap ass 195/60 street tires so a 2.4 60' is pretty darn good haha. I should have no trouble hitting 2 with some real tires. Next run will be the 1/4 mile on Jan 8th! Will have the new tires, motor mounts and cup kit/drop, so I should be good to go. Oh and the car was a Lincoln Mark VIII, said 32V on the back and the guy said it was basically a detuned Cobra engine. No idea why he called it a Thunderbird though.

also a mark 8 is not a thunderbird. its a lincoln with a 32 valve modular 4.6 in it. I believe this was the motor they started putting in the cobras. it made 290hp at the crank but weighed 5k lbs. I used to have one and actually wanted to swap that into my focus before i got the svt swap but the tranny was shot and dad wanted the car gone.

Actually, the Mark VIII's FN10 platform is the successor of the Thunderchicken's MN12 platform, just 5 inches longer and 4 inches wider (perverted minds, go to work! lol). The core supports and chassis were the same. I have a radiator from a '94 Mark VIII (FN10 platform) in my '93 Mustang (fox platform, cousin to the MN12) and the supports and brackets are all the same. Also, the Mark VIII had the same IRS as the Thunderchicken. Also, the Mark VIII was actually lighter than the Mark VII and Thunderbird weighing in at 3750lbs.

All 2005 and newer Foci came with the Duratec. They all came with the 2.0L Duratec except for the Focus ZX4 ST from 05-07 which had the 2.3L Duratec. My 07 ZX3 has the D20 and performance wise, I have the FSWerks stage 2 turbo kit, Exedy stage 1 clutch, and FSWerks 2.5" race exhaust. Everything else is stock to include throttle body, intake manifold, cams, bottom end, etc... I made 230whp/215wtq with a best 1/4 mile of 12.93 @ 105mph with a 1.91 60ft. My best 1/8 mile was 8.29 @ 86mph.

That's good, What do the d23's usually run stock or a little bit of mods? I ask cause I would like to know what my 03 zx3 would run around, if it would be worth it to go down to a track or just wait till I get more power out of it. My mods for that are on my signature.
