Performance numbers for my SVT (see inside)

I finally got around to doing some secondary road tests to quantify the modifications that I recently completed on my car. As promised, here are the results.

I'm using a Stalker Pro radar gun w/STATS data aquisition to compile these performance numbers. This is the same equipment every major magazine uses to compile their testing data (Road & Track, Motor Trend, Automobile etc). I use this equipment daily in my line of work (and no, I'm not a cop!). I did approximately 10 runs, threw out the best and worst runs and averaged the remaining 8 runs for consistancy purposes.

The first test I did was back in late October. Weather was as follows: partly sunny, 61 degrees, relative humidity 44%, barometric pressure 30.01 and steady, wind out of the ssw @ 10-12 mph.

My car then had 28,200 miles on the odometer. Only mods were K&N in the stock box, modified ASF22C copper sparkplugs with shortened ground electrode modification and then indexed, MSD coil, 8.5mm wires and 18x7" OZ Ulteggera wheels with 215/40-18s. Tire pressure set to 40 psi. 1/2 tank of Shell V-Power (93 octane) premium gasoline. Spare and jack removed.

Second test was completed last week in similiar weather conditions on the same private road.

Modifications are as follows: Custom SRI with custom sealed box, breathing air from hood vent, modified 67mm throttlebody, port matched intake manifold inlet, heat shields removed, CFM high flow cat, 3" custom mandrel bent exhaust system, custom mufflers and dual exhaust outlets, 3" flexpipe, FRRP short shifter, modified ASF22C copper plugs indexed, brown wire cut to clutch actuation sensor, Braille lightweight battery, counter weight removed, custom tune by Tom, CFM "street" lower engine mount, full Eibach Pro suspension kit (springs and shocks + alignment), 215/35-18 tires. Approximately 140 pounds removed.

Data A: Basically stock:

0-10 mph: 0.61 seconds
0-20 mph: 1.54 seconds
0-30 mph: 2.46 seconds
0-40 mph: 3.78 seconds
0-50 mph: 5.21 seconds
0-60 mph: 7.07 seconds
0-70 mph: 8.84 seconds
0-80 mph: 11.73 seconds
0-90 mph: 14.22 seconds
0-100 mph: 18.47 seconds
0-110 mph: 21.96 seconds

1/4 mile acceleration: 15.72 @ 90.8 mph

Data B: Modified

0-10 mph: 0.53 seconds
0-20 mph: 1.48 seconds
0-30 mph: 2.33 seconds
0-40 mph: 3.48 seconds
0-50 mph: 4.76 seconds
0-60 mph: 6.17 seconds
0-70 mph: 8.21 seconds
0-80 mph: 10.54 seconds
0-90 mph: 13.28 seconds
0-100 mph: 16.97 seconds
0-110 mph: 20.71 seconds

1/4 mile acceleration: 14.82 @ 94.5 mph

Not too bad for a light N/A build, and full interior. The last modification I did was Toms tune and it worked beautifully on my car. Launching is so much easier. Best launches were done in the 2,500-2,800 range (in modded form). I can't remember how I was launching during the first test, but there were some bogging issues back then with the stock tune.

Soon this spring I will start an aggressive weight reduction program. My goal is to remove 400-500 pounds (I'm going much much further than just gutting the interior). When it is completed, I will do a retest.
