I have a 2.3L Duratec, 5 speed with no tach (dumb). I bought a gauge cluster which had one and said it would fit my 2004. I get mine out, go to plug in the new one with the tach and what do you know, the plug sizes are indeed different, so I had to put my crappy non-tach one in.
Any way to force the two plugs to play nicely? I'd really like to get a tach but I don't want an aftermarket one if my car is capable of having one right in the instrument cluster.

That's so weird, why wouldn't it have a tach? Please tell me you atleast have the light that tells you when the shift. I hope you figure something out too.
